[TRANS+PICS HQ] #XiaAsiaTourBKK Press Conference Interview

Photobucket

MC: We (the media and the MC) are very glad and honored to be able to interview you today.

Junsu: This is the 1st time I got a chance to have the solo concert. In the past I’ve had a concert with other members but this time I’m performing alone. Please support me and go to my concert today.

MC: We’ll definitely support you and we’ll all attend your concert today. Now let’s talk about your solo album “XIA TARANTALLEGRA”. Please tell us about the album concept.

Junsu: The album concept is very unique. Both hair style and dressing style will be totally different from the previous albums thus makes it special with new songs with all new concepts, new choreographs and new sounds. Everything will be vigorous and strong.

MC: Besides being vigorous, you looked very sexy too and it makes the fans screamed crazily.

Junsu: *smiling sweetly and giggling* Thank you. I’m very glad. At 1st I didn’t know how to present my sexiness to the fans but when I tried to do it, the fans realized my sexy concept. I’m happy to be able to present it to the fans. Normally I just showed my sexiness via my body (revealing clothes) But in this album concept, the clothes will be unrevealing. It’s sexiness, with clothes on. Thanks a lot to the fans who understand my feelings.

MC: Just seeing a bit of the curve of your chest is very sexy.

Junsu: Thank you (Thai)

MC: Thank you (Korean)

Junsu: *laugh*

MC: You produced for this album but I know that Junho and Jaejoong have helped you produced this album too. How do you feel to have your brother and JYJ member to help you produce this album?

Junsu: Thanks a lot to my twin brother and Jaejoong Hyung. I self-produced this album with their help. Hyung composed “No Gain”. I’m very glad and thankful.

MC: What are JYJ members’ feedback regarding your solo album?

Junsu: JYJ members are busy shooting dramas so we don’t have much time to talk but if they had free time, they will listen to my solo album and we will discuss about the parts they like and the parts I need to fix. I’m glad the members gave me advices and also compliments.

MC: There are so many XIA concepts/looks in Tarantallegra MV, could you please tell us which look you prefer the most?

Junsu: My Tarantallegra MV looks are very fantasy. Normally I had a manly look with generic male clothes. But this time I looked tough and strong in the manly style. My clothes are also different than the old look.

MC: The outfits are your own style concepts?

Junsu: The stylist was the person who designed my clothes but we discussed about the album concept before making the outfits.

MC: There are many songs in this album, which one is the song you would select for Thai fans in order to show them your feelings.

Junsu: Many songs in this album but if I have to select, I’ll select the song “Lullaby”. In Korea when a mother raises a child, she will sing a bedtime song before sending her kid to bed. I’d like my fans to have a good night sleep so I select this song.

MC: So you’d like to be the mom who comforts your kids?

Junsu: Please don’t think that I’m the mom, but think as if I’m the boyfriend instead.

MC: Wow that’s sweet.

Junsu: The meaning of this song is the boyfriend wants to take care of the girlfriend and wants her to have a good night sleep.

MC: That’s romantic.

Junsu: Sure *giggles*

MC: What is the special thing you’ve prepared for Thai fans at tonight’s concert?

Junsu: I can’t tell you now about the surprise. The fans will have to attend the concert to see what it is. I’ll be able to be closer to the fans. Please come and watch it.

MC: So there’s a surprise the fans must come and see. You like to tweet a lot lately. What would you want to tweet for Thai fans?

Junsu: I’d like to tweet the picture of the coconut trees. Besides Thai fans, I’d like fans from other countries to know that I’m already in Thailand.

MC: The coconut trees represent that you are in Thailand?

Junsu: Yes in Korea I can only see coconut trees in Jeju island but when it comes to Thailand, I thought about coconut tress and I’d like everyone to know that I already am in Thailand.

MC: Please leave a message for the concert tonight.

Junsu: I’d like to invite you all to my concert. This is my 1st solo concert in Thailand. Please attend to know what’s special and the surprise I’ve prepared for you all. Thank you everyone.

MC: Thanks a lot Xia for letting us have this close interview with you.

[NEWS] With the release of Kim Junsu’s solo album, we revisit JYJ’s “Broadcasting Boycott”

Popular group JYJ member Kim Junsu held his first solo concert on the 20th of this month at Jamsil Stadium. One fan commented with irritation, “The fact that an artist such as him with such amazing skill and talent is prevented from appearing on broadcast stations is really saddening,” as well as “Just how long will they have such unfair restraints put against them? We have no idea.”

A middle-aged female fan from Yangcheon commented “As a Hallyu Star representative, Junsu has released an album and has started many activities. Does it make any sense at all that we cannot see any news of his activities on broadcast stations?” Furthermore, “We hope that not only Kim Junsu but all JYJ members will be able to showcase their music to the public through broadcast stations as soon as possible.”

Recently, due to a tight deadlock from broadcast stations, JYJ’s inability to appear on music broadcast programs is causing a rise in fans’ resentment. Such resentment rose much more significantly after Kim Junsu’s concert.

On online community boards, fans wrote “Whether it’s because of their skill, their overall presence or their title as South Korea’s best singers, JYJ members are not able to be seen on music broadcast programs” stating that “It is a complete loss to the entire music industry of South Korea.”

As expected, during Kim Junsu’s interview with reporters for his solo album release, Junsu said, “More than anything the most distressing issue was that this album was created under the assumption that I would not be able to perform on various broadcast programs. It is as if it is now a situation where I can only use my own strength/force.”

JYJ had appeared on music broadcasting before, yet their lack of appearance is now protracted due to the boycott by music broadcasting stations. The three members of JYJ filed an injunction to suspend the validity of their contracts and the court has consistently ruled in favor of the members. The court deemed that JYJ had the freedom to appear on music broadcast stations. However, due to the strong hegemony of power within the entertainment and broadcasting sphere, it is as if the court had no say over the matter.

It cannot be forgotten that despite all this JYJ has been able to consistently spread their fanbase across the world. The members have reached out to different fields of entertainment such as musicals and dramas. This has clearly made their presence stronger as a whole.

As of a few days ago, Kim Junsu’s MV for his title song “Tarantallegra” recently hit a record of 3,000,000+ views. He also topped Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber in Japan on iTunes rankings. Furthermore, presales for his album broke the 100,000 mark. This clearly demonstrated his immense popularity despite not being able to appear on music broadcasts.

Reasons for disallowing JYJ to perform on TV are weak and unpersuasive. Preventing JYJ from appearing on broadcast stations is a loss for the country and in fact is quite an embarrassment. Broadcast stations would do well to remember that in the future, when looking back at this point in time, there will forever be a “stain” on history/in our memories.

[REVIEW+VIDEOS] Xia Junsu – Tarantallegra: Kpop Music Mondays (A Review by Eatyourkimchi)

YES! We didn’t think that Junsu would be able to stay on top of the KpopCharts for two weeks, considering how we couldn’t do a Music Monday last week since we were at the Google Kpop Concert, but Tarantallegra kept the top spot. WOOT! If you haven’t seen it yet, check out Junsu’s video in all its artsy sexual glory:

For starters, some of you might be wondering about the change of scenery. We’re in Canada until June 18th. Yay! We won’t be posting as many videos as we usually post, since we’re trying to kinda be on vacation with our families and what not, but we can’t give up on Music Mondays. Of course not! It’s a bit difficult trying to film them here, though, since we don’t have all of our equipment with us: namely, our lighting. So we had to rely on the sun, which is really, really bright. Ah!

Ok, enough about us, more about the video. Is anyone else really taken aback by this? Not in a bad way, but in a really surprised way? I guess we shouldn’t be surprised because Junsu’s last music video for INNNNNTOOOOXIICATIIOOONN was a jaw droopingly awesome sexy video. This video surprised though, for a few reasons. First, the back up dancers were really diverse in both race and size and that is really realllllly rare to see in a kpop video. I really can’t think of any other Korean music video that had such curvy ladies and brawny guys. There’s usually a uniformity in size and shape, but this video offered us a different approach to sexy backup dancers. Seriously! Most backup dancers are just…backup; not the centre of attention, but a lot of the focus on this video was on these dancers. We loved it!

Secondly, this video was very sexy but it also oozed of an eroticism and sexuality we can appreciate. Not that we appreciate sexy hoses, but we can appreciate the artsiness of it. Have you ever gone to see a play at an art school and the people on stage are doing weird things, like licking each other or fondling each others bodies but doing so while dressed up like purple swans and it’s both sexy but also not sexy? Yeah…I totally wasn’t repeating that from experience *blank stare to computer* Well that’s how I felt watching this video. It was like, yes, Junsu and his dancers are being sexual and touching, but it wasn’t in such a way that was for the sole purpose of making fangirls and fanboys drool at the camera. OH OH! I just thought of another example. One of my favourite music videos ever is Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance.” Although they are wearing underwear and dancing, there is an emotional rawness present in their very artistic dancing and rolling on the floor as they bang their fists to “I DON’T WANNNNNA BE FRIENNNDSSS.” For us, it injects more meaning into their sexiness than just “I’m hot”. Know what I’m saying here?

Moving along…the third thing we really like about this video is that Junsu is very comfortable with playing around with gender roles and highlighting androgyny. It’s a concept that I think Japan seems very comfortable while Korea only uses it as a joke, like as a special concert event or on a variety show. I don’t think Junsu takes this concept as a joke. There’s nothing really humorous about what he’s doing here. I think he embraces it and takes it seriously, and it’s something we’re not used to seeing in Kpop.

All in all, this video will get banned like there’s no tomorrow, but we’re really happy that Junsu made it anyways. If you’re as big a fan of it as we are, pick up the song via iTunes or get the physical album with a super sexy poster via YesAsia. Boom! And, of course, we’ve got bloopers as always, including some photobombing by the Spudgy and a huge rant on bananas. KEES AND TOUCH ME! RUB MY BANANAS!

[NEWS] JYJ’s Kim Jun Soo entered the Billboard Top 10 charts as a solo singer

According to Billboard World Album chart, which was released on May 25, Kim’s solo album Xia Tarantallegra ranked 10th. The album was released on May 15 and entered the chart after only 10 days.

[NEWS] JYJ’s Junsu, Begins His Asia Tour In Thailand

JYJ’s member Junsu conveyed his thoughts in light of the beginning of his first solo Asia Tour.

Junsu attended the press conference which was held at the Bangkok Convention Center at 11am local time on 27 May, and revealed, “I am very happy to be holding the first concert of the Asia Tour in Thailand. I want to make it a good start.” He also conveyed his aspirations for the concert, “The album this time began with the goals of wanting to present XIA’s entire identity through a new stage, rather than following the current trends. I feel confident about the concert this time, and I want to create a passionate concert with the Thai fans who are like family to me.”

Junsu also did not forget to show his consideration for the Thai fans. In response to the words by a reporter that, “Junsu’s Twitter is a topic of discussion among Thai fans”, he expressed, “Because I like photos of coconut trees and beaches, I upload a lot of them on my Twitter. This time I think I will upload photos of Thailand’s coconut trees. I want to let the Thai fans listen to a new song called “Lullaby”. From the position of a mother.”

In the Thai newspaper, a correspondent from Thai Nath expressed, “As he has grown as a singer, he also looks more outstanding. As we are also aware that his abilities are among the best in Asia, we are looking forward to the concert.”

On another note, the first concert of Junsu’s Asia Tour “XIA 1st Asia Tour in Bangkok”, was held at the Royal Paragon Hall on the afternoon of 27 May.
