The Foreign Correspondents Ambassador Award gives recognition to an individual or group’s efforts to promote Korea overseas and the recipients are chosen based on a vote by the Seoul Foreign Correspondents’ Club.
With this award, Kim Junsu has been recognized for promoting Korea through his successful world tour that was held in four different continents.
Kim Junsu’s first solo album, which was released in May, has been met with an explosive response both domestically and internationally as it ranked 10th on the Billboard World Charts, 1st on iTunes Japan and 1st on China’s biggest MV site. He also met with fans in six Asian countries, five cities in both American continents and Germany in his world tour that took him through 12 cities in four continents.
10 years since the awards ceremony was first created, the award is given to one individual or group in literature, cinema, sports and singing. The literature award was given to Shin Kyung Suk, famous for her book ‘Please Take Care of Mom’ that has been exported to 33 countries, the cinema award to Director Kim Gi Deok of ‘Pieta’, which won the ‘Best Film Award’ at the Venice International Film Festival, and the sports award went to London Olympic gold medalist Yang Hak Seon.
On receiving the award, Kim Junsu stated, “I’m very happy to be receiving this meaningful award not long since finishing my world tour. Thank you. I will work even harder from now on.”
Meanwhile, Kim Junsu is currently working on his end-of-the-year solo concert, ’2012 XIA Ballad & Musical Concert with Orchestra’.
